Not one to be confused with a major metropolitan area, Pierre, South Dakota, is a quiet midwestern town situated along the banks of the Missouri River. Home to some of the country’s best hunting and fishing, Pierre also happens to be the South Dakota state capitol and one of the region’s largest employers. Too bad no one outside of South Dakota knew that.
